Big Girl

Ali started some thing new last week as well. She learned how to use the potty! She was very reluctant at first, I had to bribe her with "mashamellows" just to sit on the potty. But, she caught on quickly and is now able to take care of her business on her own. (We also moved the potty in the bathroom, don't worry!)

I am thrilled that she is out of diapers, during the day at least, but this also means no more onesies. The quintissential outfit for babies. Nothing is more appealing to me than a sweet little baby, in a pure white onesie.I know my baby days are over and they have been for a while. I wouldn't have it any other way. But, as I packed up Ali's onesies to send to my soon to arrive nephew, my eyes teared up and my throat tightened.

When you look at these pictures, can you blame me?

Back to School!!

The girls, well the big girls, started back to school last Monday. Isabella is doing much better than last year, but some days are still a struggle for her. So, please continue to keep her in your prayers.

Ali starts "pretty school" after Labor Day. What will I do with myself???

Whoo-hoo

My eye stopped twitching!

We had Jimmy's senior cadets over last night for dinner. At 4:30 pm I was getting ready, putting my makeup on and doing my hair, and my eye was still twitching. Around 9:30pm, as I was getting ready for bed and after I washed my face, I realized it had stopped. I have no idea why! The twitching stopped just as abruptly as it started!

Hmmm, maybe all the chocolate that I ate made my system happy...

Confession

I bought a bag of candy today at Costco. NOT for the reason that you think, but still I broke my vow. Tomorrow night we are hosting 25 of Jimmy's senior cadets for dinner. I like to have bowls of candy around for them to eat while they are here, and then I send the leftovers for them to pass out to their buddies back in the dorm. So, I bought the bag without even thinking of my vow. And the first thing I did when I got home? I cut that sucker open and ate a Kit Kat!! Only then did I realize what I had done. And, now I confess it to you.

I should also confess that I have also eaten a Butterfinger and Reese's Peanut Butter Cup.

God save my soul.

And my butt.

Still going

For the record, my eye is still twitching. I did see my very kind and wonderful eye doctor, who had NOT seen anything like it before. She had seen twitches that came and went, but not one that had continued non stop. She gave me some eye drops and told me to take Claritin if the drops didn't work. Obviously, neither one did anything to fix my little "quirk" but my visit to see her did cost me 35 dollars. I am supposed to call her next week and report in. I am eager to see if she has any other ideas...My plan is to go see my doctor on base, which is always free. I do not thing there is anything seriously wrong with me, but after a month of this, it is starting to get a little old!

Yesterday, while at Albertsons to pick up a few things, I noticed that the store had put out

HALLOWEEN CANDY!!!!!
For the love of Pete!
I have issues with this for so many reasons. Summer isn't even over, school hasn't started and we are already supposed to be buying for October 31st?? And, do they really think that any of that candy would still be around in two and a half months? Pushers, that's what they are. No wonder our country has such a high obesity rate! How long are we going to walk by that candy without buying it? Eventually, like next month, it will go on sale and people will buy it "to save for Halloween." But, we all know how that goes! Six trips to the store to replace the candy that has been eaten and five pounds later, Halloween will roll around!
I am taking a moral stand and vow not to buy any candy until the last week in October. One year I didn't even buy candy. I passed out the little packets of pretzels. The girls thought I was mean and horrible and Jimmy bet that our house would be egged!

Oh Dear!

Today is my SIL's birthday. The SIL that taught me how to blog, how to laugh, that

It will get done, it always does

the meaning of "Shattered ends" and what to do about them, that helps me color my hair from 1900 miles away, who was my voice in the wilderness when I was across the country, alone and raising babies, that
"We can do better than that"
and that it is okay to be just me. Thanks for being a great SIL and friend.

Happy Birthday to You!

Oops!!

This morning Jimmy had peanut butter on his toast. He picked up Ali about 15 minutes later and kissed her all over her face. Fortunately, he didn't kiss her on the mouth because this is how she looked a few minutes later.

Guess we can skip the visit to the allergist to see if her peanut allergy has gone away!

Still going...

Okay, my eye is still twitching. It has been twitching 24 hours a day for almost two weeks now. Oh! Maybe I am burning extra calories! But, it is starting to freak out the neighborhood children. So, Tuesday afternoon I have an appointment with my super fabulous eye doctor. Maybe she will prescribe a week on the beach to help me relax my eye muscles!
