When it Rains it....

HAILS!!!!

We have lived all over this country, coast to coast and in the middle. But, never have I lived anywhere that had such wild and severe weather. We refer to Mother Nature as "Sybil" here, because the weather can change so wildly in a day or an hour.
Today, Ali and I walked the quarter of a mile up to the school to get the girls. We left at 3:20 and arrived at the school 10 minutes later. The skies were dark and the clouds were low. I should have known better than to walk. But, I feel like a meathead when I drive since we live so close! Once the girls were released, I grabbed them and told them to hustle as big rain drops hit the ground. We made it across the street from the school when the hail started! It was small and I vascillated between heading back into the school and making a dash for it. We decided to run! We got about half a block ahead of the hail and made it into the garage, literally, about a minute before the hail started coming down.

It is a good thing that we decided to make a run for it and not head back into the school. It has been an hour since we headed home and, while the hail has let up, it is still storming outside.
What an adventure!
Thanks, Sybil! The girls will never forget this day!

And to think I was excited this morning because it was only 76 and I could have my doors open.
